Well think ive narrowed my choices down to one of these 2 cards. What I am not sure about is which one of either. Is it worth spending the extra 30 or so $ to get the say a twin froz III, or an OC version of them. What brands seem to be out performing, if its enough to justify spending a little more. Lookin for the card to last me another few years of high graph gaming. I wouldnt mind OC the card a bit as needed, I cant really tell which ones OC well. Ive got a 5870 and just isnt performing on high graphics settings anymore and it wont OC worth a dang, so i screwed up back a few years ago and got one that had no OC potential really.

techPowerUp.com was only able to overclock their HD 6970 review sample by 4% which resulted in a 4.2% performance gain (i.e. +5.7 FPS).

They were able to overclock their GTX 570 review sample by 11% which resulted in a 16.1% performance gain (i.e. +20.1 FPS).

Both cards will be good just get what ever is cheaper and OCing almost always nets a mere 3-5fps so never bank on it just get the next card up.

Splendid
The MSI Twin Frozr are a great card , the cooling is excellent , arent too loud and also overclock very well...as does the ASus but the cooler is extra wide. The gigabyte also has a great cooler and comes OC out of the box.

wish new egg still sold 5870s.. would love to xfire mine. I do like what ive read on the twin froz cards. If i buy the 5970 or the 570 do you foresee me being in the same boat as I am now in a year, wanting a new card or wishing I could find another to xfire/sli? 300-350 is all I can bring myself to spend top on a card, anything less then that isnt gonna be worth upgrading from my 5870.
