Hey you guys Its time for me to part ways with my computer. Not much of a gamer anymore and need the cash for school so I was wondering what do you think is the right price for this machine? http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/sys/2815265674.html Im thinking maybe $1350 is too much because its been up on craigslist for a while and no nibbles. Also I have a laptop up but dont know about the price maybe i should go for $400? http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/hp-pavilion-dv6775us-entertainment/1707-3121_7-33204706.html It comes with a 16 cell battery as well

Tell me what you guys think and thanks

Honestly? You have that computer priced about double what it's worth. Including the monitor it's at most worth $650-$700. No way will you get more than the individual parts are worth. Part it out and subtract 15-20% for the "used" factor.

Laptop prices have also come down alot here recently. I am thinking like $250 tops for that.

Really that low? Its a 6 core with a 5870 and a 24 inch monitor that alone is $700 at least and the laptop which is 6 years old is almost the same price how can that be?

Like I said add up the individual parts at todays price and subtract 15-20% for being used. If you were building it for someone specifically as a brand new computer you could get paid for building it but as it's not custom for anyone but you the value will decrease. Just how it is. You might get lucky and get a bit more if you leave it for sale long enough.

That processor is far from new. The amd phenoms have been out a long time now and is under 200.00 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103849 . Even with a 24 inch monitor which is maybe what 170.00? http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007617%20600030619&IsNodeId=1&name=24%22

Some one could easilly build that same system for almost half the price and have it brand new. As for the laptop? Most like to try to over price them as they are popular. Seach ebay there are many there with 15" screens for under 200.00 max of like 350 and thats with all the bells and whistles.

I was gonna sell the 2 and get a macbook pro but even with that it seems like i would have to add some money on top of it. The condition of the computer is perfectly fine no scratches dents or anything

Why would you waste money on an overpriced Macbook? If you sell what you have now for say $750-850 for both you could get a pretty damn powerful Windows 7 laptop for that.

But with money being an issue you get twice as much going with a Windows based laptop over a Mac. It's your money but that's crazy to me.
