What causes my screen on my computer to blink

my computer screen blinks 3 times at a session. This goes on approx every 30 seconds or so. What causes this and how do I correct this malfunction. I have windows 7 and the computer is only 6 months old.
Please advise, this computer is like MR. MAGoo. If you are old enough to remember him on television.

Second, verify that you video cable (VGA, DVI, HDMI, or DisplayPort) is firmly connected on both ends. Also verify that your display's power cable is securely fastened.

Last (for now), what make/model of monitor, video card, and power supply are you using?

BTW, I remember Mr. MaGoo quite well, thank you very much!
