Hey guys, Just wondering something, i am planning on upgrading my mobo, cpu, ram, but i was wondering if i need to do a fresh install of win7 when i swap mobo's, i do not know if the drivers will make it act up or not.

Do you need to do a fresh install of windows? No. However it is in your best interests to do a fresh install after the upgrade of a motherboard. Reinstalling will save you from potential problems in the future. Reactivating windows after the reinstall should be no big deal. Worst case scenario you have call Microsoft’s automated number and get an activation code.

Very often people get BSODs/restart/BSOD/restart/BSOD/restart when they switch motherboards without reinstalling Windows.

I have seen it a couple dozen times on TH over the last few months and I don't go in 95% of the threads.

It is quite a common problem to experience, just be prepared to have to reinstall.

It may be that you don't need to, but you will definitely want to have the CDs ready.
