Hey everyone I have already done the research and I know how much a great intel gaming rig Is already going to run me macing out an i5 2500K setup and will run about $1500. Now from what I'm told, an AMD gaming machine will cost less but not be as strong or efficient as an Intel setup. Now this being the case or not, please build your best AMD gaming rig as long as it's under $1500 I will be willing to contemplate an AMD setup over Intel. This system must be gaming oriented all ideas welcome and accepted :)  thanks in advance

Cheers

I would just go with Intel, your best choice for an AMD CPU would be an FX-4100 since you wouldn't see much of a benefit (if any) by upgrading from that to an FX-8. At stock speeds, the FX-4 will be outpaced by an i3-2100. (As will the FX-8)

I'm building a powerful AMD rig myself.

ASUS Sabertooth Motherboard (Am3+ Chipset)- Around $200
AMD Fx 8-core @ 3.6 ghz- Around $250
Corsair Vengeance 16 gb RAM- Around $100

Really the rest of the components come down to HDDs, PSUs and your video card.
For your budget I would stick with 6900 series cards, maybe run crossfire if you can afford it.

Definitely go with 1 SSD for OS and 1 HDD for the rest of your files.

Play around with some configs on newegg to try and match your budget (:

of course my rig will have much more power on the video card side, as my budget is closer to 3000

Any difference other than price on the Asus P8Z68-v Pro Gen3 and the exact same AsRock mobo? I noticed sometimes only a $10 difference but sometimes a $50 difference..
