Additional Comments: I have three old computers that I could steal a hard drive from. Does age have a major affect on your hard drive? How can I completely erase them (including the installed OS)?

It's a beautiful build. Go with it. If those hard drives are SATA 3.0 Gbps, (ageing doesn't generally impose any particular slowdown or corruption) your HDD speed/performance will be OK.

You can completely erase a hard drive by formatting it with any PC. This will wipe everything on it—not completely enough to keep a determined person from getting at the data on it, but perfectly for a fresh install.
