The HD6950 2GB is still going to be slightly better and you are right if you are going with multimonitor setup and extended resolution then you will need a 2GB card! I would actually recommend 2 x one of those cards if you are going over 3 monitors!
Selecting between them would be more based on their performance in your favorite games!

Splendid
They are both good cards but it depends on what type of resolution you are going to use. Anything 1920x1200 and down there is no point in getting the 2GB's more of graphics ram.

Plus games today are just about to the 1 gb but later down the line then the med to low cards I would say yes.

But inless you are going to use the resolution or less that I stated there is no point at this time. Just spending more money for notheing. My self I like the Nvidia cards better

The added ram is not going to give any more performance unless you are at extreme high resolution. Here you can see the difference between 1GB and 2GB HD6950 http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-hd-6950-1gb-benchmark,3041-15.html
On average the HD6950 is slightly better than the GTX560Ti http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/NVIDIA/GeForce_GTX_560_Ti/27.html
But then again there is the 448 core version http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130738 which is a based on the GTX570

I am going to be playing at high resolutions (e.g. eyefinity), so the more ram should actually come into play.

Rolli, that 560ti there is only 1gb. I'm trying to figure out more about the 2gb version.

So, would the 2gb 560ti be better than the 2gb 6950? Again, the 2gb 560ti, not the 1gb.
