Want to crossfire 5850 instead of buying 7xxx

Hey guys i think we all know that 79xx are arriving on january 09 2012 but the cost of 7970 is way too much to buy.

I am thinking of crossfire with another 5850 and hopefully be able to manage 1 or 2 years more with new games.

I am planning to buy 5850 by end of this month please advice me if i am doing right thing or not.

Or should i sell 5850 and get 2 6870`s?.

I dont think i can afford 7xxx series.

and i want to play all games maxed out on 1920x1080 resolution if possible with all AA enabled.

2 x 5850 and 2 x 6870 will be close performance wise so if you can pick up a 5850 for the right price it is not a bad plan.

Xfiring is not a bad idea to just give yourself an upgrade for now, you will see a nice performance increase.
I believe the new cards won't be cheap and will not be something that meets everyones budget, so getting another 5850 thats cheap will do the trick nicely.

I agree. 2 OC 5850 is almost a 5970 and despite the power of the coming 78xx series cf 5850 is still going to have all kinds of jam for gaming, SLI 285's is still a hammer pounding out high res games (dx10 mind you)
