Ok, so i'm planning on getting a pretty good graphics card soon http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005FE272A/ref=asc_df_B005FE272A1820943?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&tag=pg-469-34-20&linkCode=asn&creative=395097&creativeASIN=B005FE272A was the one i've been looking at the most for now. I'm pretty sure this is my pc right now http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&docname=c01717858
what else do I need to upgrade on my pc to be able to run that graphics card. If that graphics card is too far out've my pc's reach could you suggest a different one? all help is very much appreciated.

Splendid
I'm afraid you will need a higher powered PSU to power the card you wish to upgrade to. It would be bst to get yourself at least a 500Watt psu and possibly also upgrade to a better card than the 6790.
Look towards a 6850 at the least , but I understand that it depends on your budget also.
Plus your cpu will hold you back

So thanks do you have price estimates for upgrading both of those would be?

You got an AM2+ Socket right there, Which is compatible to the newer phenom II AM3 Socket that is backward compatible. Take a look at this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103940&Tpk=x4%20940 it come without heatsink but I think you can use your old heatsin5k.
COST: $90

For PSU, I think CX430 with Mail in Rebate is your best, because it's $27 (with shipping) as rolli59 said.
