Hi, I'd like to know if it's ok to run a GTX 580 on Cooler Master's GX550. It says that it's 660w tops, 550w is the minimum value. I've got a 85w TPD processor (C2Q Q9400 LGA775), 2 DDR3 1333mhz XMS3 memory sticks and a Green Caviar 1TB HD from WD. My motherboard is from Gigabyte.

"GeForce GTX 580 - On your average system the card requires you to have a 650 Watt power supply unit."

... that's from 'Guru 3D'... i'd agree - at the very least a 600W from a top brand like Corsair, Seasonic, or Antec...

I'm really starting to hate that site.

How do they get 650W? (I know how they get that figure, which is why I'm starting to not like the site.) Its a 300W GPU, 100W CPU, and 50Wish for the rest of the system. I count 450W for a stock/normal system. I agree that CM makes some questionable PSUs so double check that you have a good one.

GTX 580 = 244watts max TDP it will easily run on a 500watt psu along with any single card out today will run on any solid rated 500watts PSU.
