Looking for advice on a good router

Hi all,
At my house I have my computer and my wifes, we use a Micronet SP916GK which we have had for a while. The problem is, it always seems as if her connection is suffering a lot more than mine. Whether it be slow for internet browsing, downloading or poor latency in games.
I was firstly wondering if this could be because the router is crappy or if it is something I need to fix manually somehow.
Secondly, if the router is crappy, can anyone advise on a decent one?
