Hi !

It seems that this community is very active and helpfull, so I ask your help for my new computer.

Approximate Purchase Date: in the next 2-3 weeks.

Budget Range: 500-600 after rebates.

System Usage: microsoft office works and pdf works, surfing the internet, gaming and basic photo editing , lets say 25% each.

Parts Not Required: keyboard, mouse, monitor (I only have an 19 inch lcd of 1440x 900 but it will be enough for now), speakers

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: ncix (Canda)

Country: Canada

Parts Preferences: I've always had Intel (my last rig was a core 2 duo) but i'm open to go with Amd.

Overclocking: I don't plan to do that, never had.

SLI or Crossfire: I don't think so.

Monitor Resolution: 1440x900, 19 inch samsung lcd. Basic but ok for now !

I also go an hdd from my core2 duo with original windows xp intall on . The hard disk is a seagate 7200.10 250gb. Can I reuse that one way or another ? I guess i must buy windows 7 , that drains 100$ on my budget.

I Like to play some game but i've also got a 360 for that. On my pc I like to play games like Civ 5, , Total war , left 4 dead 2 and I would like to play Diablo 3. If a game is too demanding and exist on console I will play it on that.

And last thing, i've decided to build it myself, for the pleasure of doing it, and save some money. Can anyone show me a good website on the subject ?

Thanks a lot for your help !

do you have an actual Windows XP install disk? If not, you may need to buy windows 7.

assuming you have a Windows XP install disk:

I5-2400: $190
AS Rock H61M/U3S3: $70
Msuhkin 4 GB DDR-1333: $22
Hitachi 500 GB HDD: $80
Samsung DVD Burner: $16
Rosewill R102 case: $40
Sapphire HD 6850: $140
Corsair CX 430W: $45

total is $603

no.
thats a single-use license.

you will have to buy an Operating system.

with that, plus the fsct you are in Canada, I'lll suggest an i3-2100 or 2120, whichever is cheaper, and a HD 6790 GPU, which is still good enough for 1440x900 without any trouble,

Can anyone tell me if everything is ok with that build ? With shipping (free), taxes and Pricematch it goes to 756 $

I want to play some games (civ 5, diablo 3, mass effect 3) make some photo editing and web surfing.

Is there anything I can/should change to take my build closer to 600$ ?

Thanks !
