560 ti SLI question

hey guys, so ive seen 580s in quad SLI mode, and in the details of that card it says that its only capable of 3 way SLI...and i read somewhere that sandybridge supports up to quad SLI so is that the reason this guy was able to use 4x580s? the cpu? and if so, is it possible to run 560 ti's in more than just 2 way SLI?

No, 560's are limited to 2 way SLI, the 560-448 can do tri SLI

The 570s and 580s are not limited to 2 way SLI

Currently, the only GPUs that can support 4-way SLI are the GTX 480 and GTX 580........3-Way SLI is possible using all GeForce GTX except GTX 295 and GTX 460 (580, 570, 560-448, 480, 470, 465, 285, 280, 275, 260).

First and foremost the motherboard must support 4-way SLI.

If the motherboard supports 4-way SLI then a 4-way SLI bridge connector will be included in the motherboard package along with a 3-way SLI bridge connector and a 2-way SLI bridge connector.

The EVGA X79 Classified is an example of a motherboard that supports 4-way SLI.
