Wifi disconnections

Hello,
just got 2nd hand laptop for kids but it can't run BBC iplayer for more than 5 mins before saying connection lost even though wifi signal is still there can I do anything about this?

Try to reset the router, if that fails to stay stable, try an external wireless adapter that may work better than the on-board wifi.
