  1. What motherboard do you have?
That CPU can be overclocked if you have a motherboard that allows it
  2. ok thanks i wanted 2 oc to 3.5 ghz
  3. If your motherboard supports overclocking, 3.5 GHz should be an easy jump for a Regor. Remember to increase in small increments and closely monitor your heat while you OC, and test with an application such as Prime95 to make sure your PC is stable under load. Happy Overclocking!
  4. and the mobo i have is a asrock n68-s3
  5. The ASRock n68-s3 does indeed support overclocking. I would suggest overclocking from the bios as I have had some problems with the OC Tuner program.
  6. ok thanks for the info
  7. No problem!
  8. MY CPU IS AMD Phenom II X4 840 CPU 3.2GHz WHAT THE BEST GPU I CAN GET AND MY RES WILL BE AT 1280 BY 1024

  10. Almost any current GPU can push 1280x1024 with all the bells and whistles very easily. How much do you want to spend? It will be very easy in your case to spend too much, since you aren't trying to push 1900x1200 or something.
  11. about $150 or lower
  12. A GTX 550ti or something along those lines is the furthest I would personally go, or you are just spending too much money.
  13. so a gtx 550ti with my cpu and the cpu will not bottelneck
  14. or whats a good ati card
  15. could a gtx 560 be ok for this cpu
  16. COULD THE GTX 560TI BE A ANOTHER GOOD CHOCIE OR WHATS A GOOD ATI GRAPHICS CARD
  17. HI I HAVE A AMD PHEMON ii X4 840 AND I WONDERING HOW WILL IT RUN GAMES WITH A GTX 550TI OR SHOULD I GET A GTX 560TI AND MY RES WILL BE 1280 BY 1024 :wahoo:
  18. The 550 Ti should be enough for 1280x1024. I'll say this though: I use the same resolution and have an Asus 560 OC non-Ti (OC'd to 950/1900/2100 from a stock 850/1700/2100), and there's literally nothing I can't max out and keep playable frame rates (over 30 FPS Avg.).

Some of that may be able to be attributed to my 2500K and it being OC'd to 4.5Ghz because 1280x1024 is usually more CPU bound, but I think you'll be OK with a 550 Ti with that CPU. A 560 Ti would be at the top end of what you would NEED, I think.

I would also suggest this though. If you ever plan on a higher res monitor, definitely get the 560 Ti.
  19. For your resolution you have a good setup with the 840 and 550!
  20. it will perform better if you chose the gtx 560ti

because logically, spending more money on a superior part is supposed to perform better ಠ_ಠ
  22. what games are you running?
    What setting?
For that resoultion i'd grab an gtx 560ti
    take a look

  23. No doubt the 560Ti is a better card but at 1280x1024 resolution it is a little bit of an overkill. On 1080P it is a great card.
  24. 550ti is great for that resolution

I DID WANT 2 PLAY GTA 4 AND BATTLEFIELD3 AND DUKE NUKEM FOREVER
  26. and what about the hd 6850
  27. and how much power would i need for my system

CPU AMD PHEMON ii X4 840

    MOBO ASROCK N68-S3

GPU GTX 550TI OR GTX 560TI

    320 GB SATA SEAGATE HDD

    4 GBS OF DDR3 RAM

AND MY CASE IS THIS http://www.stormcomputers.com.au/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=42_358&products_id=3761

and i will use 2 fans on the case how much power do i need for this system
  28. HD6850 would sit in between those two GTX cards, a quality 500watt PSU would run that system no problem. Example http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341047
  29. what about 600w psu and newegg doesnt ship to austraila
  30. 600watt is plenty but make sure it is a quality unit! Many less than good on the market that promise more than they can deliver!
  31. yeah i will go with a 600 w psu because my cpu is 95w and the gpu needs 500w

GPU Manufacturers power requirements are based on total system load so when a card says it needs 500watts they are already taking all the other components in your system into account! The cards you are looking at consume less than 200watts themselves. Your system will hardly brake 400watts.
  33. well im gettin a gtx 560 for 187.50 of ebay hell yeah
  34. As for the PSU I just bout a corsair cx600 low end PSU and it is loads better than my old semi modular 580 watt Mushkin (supposedly high output) and I paid $54 for the corsair

For a 560 (ti) you could use a corsair cx500

specs are good enough i'd still recommend gtx 560ti and you want GTA4,BF3,dukenukem etc... whereas gta4 is highly cpu intensive game and bf3 is gpu intensive.
so you'd be good with gtx560ti..
  36. yeah i bet gta 4 is a cpu intensive game

  38. the coolermaster gx is not really a reliable psu. if you not plan to sli, then the best value to quality psu is the seasonic m12II 520w on newegg for 60$(+10$ shipping)
  39. woukd the hd 6870 be a good card for this cpu ?
  40. YES the HD6870 will work fine with it.
  41. would the hd 6870 give me the same performance as a gtx 560
  42. or the hd 6850
  43. HD6870 is very similar to GTX560 in performance the HD6850 a little slower http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Palit/GeForce_GTX_560_2_GB/27.html
  44. hey the gtx 570 would be a overkill for cpu ay

It would be fine for your CPU but not at resolution 1280 x 1024 there it would be massive overkill!
  46. with hd 6870 would i be able 2 run games at high settings?
  47. Absolutely with that resolution!
  48. sry to ask but would the hd 6850 run games at high setting?
