256 MB PC2100 DDR - ECC

I was just checking the price for PC2100 DDR RAM and and I saw:

256 MB PC2100 DDR

256 MB PC2100 DDR - ECC (TWICE THE PRICE)

What's the difference do you know? ANd are they both 266MHz?

ECC is only used in servers where a crash would be devastating to the network. It's also important when moving large amounts of data (which most servers and file servers do). You will not need ECC unless you are building a server for a large network. BTW, ECC stands for Error Correcting and Control.
