New Gaming PC $1500-2000

Looking to build a new computer for some mmo gaming.

I have mainly played WoW the last 5 years and recently installed SWTOR and its killing my computer... AMD Athlon 64 X@ 4800+ 2.4ghz, with a single XT1900 Video card. I know shes an old girl!

I have built several PC's but no longer work in the Computer industry and this stuff changes so darn fast!

Want to be able to play SWTOR at high/max setting with a single video card.

Budget is 1500-2000$ Including new monitor.

Been looking at the Dec System builds but want to make sure nothing new has changed the game since then.

My main question is which motherboard/cpu combo to go with.

TIA

  1. A good z68 board and a i5 2500k (if you like to overclock) Would be the most recommended for gaming.

  3. What does an i7 bring to the table over the i5?

    the hyper-threading:

    i5 -> 4 cores/4 threads
    i7 -> 4 cores/8 threads

    ...which would only benefit apps that can utilize the extra logical threads (mainly video encoding apps - not gaming)
