My laptop compaq/hp presario v2000 has Windows XP operating system installed.

I've not had an problems (except viruses) however now the laptop screen is not working (dark). I can still slightly make out activity on the screen. I plugged it into an external monitor and that works fine, however I cannot get the "onboard" screen to work. I've checked system Device manager/hardware and everything appears okay.
I did a system diagnostic and there is the (video) results:
Graphics Processor Properties:
Video Adapter ATI Radeon Xpress 200M (RS480M) Chipset
(ATI RADEON XPRESS 200M Driver Version:

GPU Code Name RS480M (PCI 1002 / 5955, Rev 00)
GPU Clock 301 MHz (original: [ TRIAL VERSION ] MHz)

The report is stating that I have a TV monitor only (does not recognize the onboard monitor).

When I did a troubleshoot it recommended that I update the driver. However I cannot find an update for this version. When I go to Cnet or AMD website there is no support for these drivers (or no download available).

I would look on the website for a driver... I dont think your problem is driver related.
