Gtx 460 driver

are there any known problems with the new driver update 285.62 WHQL?

i was going to upgrade this one from old one currently at 260. i had issues with 280 and 275 in the past
the only reason i'm updating is because every time i start up my computer my startup sound recently started crackling before it was fine.

  3. Why not try your own yourself?

285 is not buggy for me, but for you maybe different. Who knows?

what is your issue with those driver?
  5. i got bsod with 280 and 275 ={
  6. i have downloaded it and now waiting to see if there are any problems.
  7. I'm guessing you have not been doing a clean install if you have been having so many BSOD's. Try doing a clean install from the driver installation menu and don't fear updating your graphics driver.
  8. should i uninstall the old driver including file and registry? and then do clean install while doing all this in safe mode
  9. Uninstall, then use this:

Restart, then install the latest driver using the clean install option.
  10. i'll try it .what does the Detonator R.I.P. do any ways

It's a very simple tool that will delete any stray Nvidia files, your old Nvidia folder, and any obsolete Nvidia registry entries. You do not have to install Detonator RIP, just run it.
  12. i used detonator rip and the installer for nvidia graphic card gave me an error instead saying it failed to install.

The proper sequence of events is:
    -uninstall the old driver
    -run detonator rip
    -restart
    -run detonator rip
    -clean install the new driver
    -restart
-configure the control panel the way you like it, and get gaming

It sounds like you are not being allowed to install the new Nvidia driver and getting an error instead. And you were getting BSOD's with other attempted Nvidia driver installs, correct?

By the way, only install those driver components that you need. For example don't install the 3D Vision software if you don't run 3D Vision. Same goes for the audio component if you are not using the video card to help process sound.
  14. i just got an error saying nvidia driver failed to install.
  15. Did you have another card in there prior to installing the GTX 460? Maybe something from AMD/ATI? If so, check the Windows Control Panel uninstall section and uninstall anything related to video drivers.

Also, do you have the right version of your driver for your operating system? Be sure you downloaded to correct one from Nvidia. They have drop down menus to specify your card and your operating system.
  16. i got it working but i used another method. i took ownership of the driverstore including the subfolders in the folder and rebooted and installed but of coarse i did have my old nvidia drivers with the files and registry cleaned.
  17. Whew!
  18. does my method make sense?but it did work though
