hey there! please forgive me for asking...i'm just new in building computers and this is just my first build. so i'm a bit worried or such on my first ever build. is it normal that my i5 2400 runs @ 3.3ghz while playing dota or assassin's creed? thanks :)

Solution
Because the games in question don't use all 4 cores of the quad, as bart pointed out the CPU has a feature called TurboBoost, by default the i5-2400 is running at 3.1GHZ, when it senses the workload is not favoring the use of all 4 cores, it will shut down the others in favor of putting more power into the cores being used.
