I am looking to upgrade my current gaming system, which is quite old.

I know a guy that is selling a system with the following specs, and the system was built only a few months ago. He is needing to sell the system due to financial reasons and is asking $850.00 for the system. What games should this currently run well?

Is this a fair price for the following system:

CPU - i5-2500k 3.3-3.8GHz
CPU Cooler - CM Hyper 212+
GPU - MSI Radeon 6950 2GB
RAM - 8GB Corsair XMS3 1333
Mobo - AsRock H67 (B3) w/ SATA6.0GB/s & USB3.0
Case - CM 690 Advanced II
HDD - Samsung Spinpoint F3 7200RPM 1TB
PSU - Corsair TX650
OS - Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Wireless adapter - Premiertek Hermes PL18N

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks,

TR

System as outlined looks solid. Why is he selling it? Warranty? If you were building it a z68 mobo would be the choice today but not a lot of difference with the z67. Good brand names. If you could get him to $750 and be sure there were no issues and you had recourse that would be super. As a second owner I don't think you get any support from the manufacturers since you were not the original purchaser and couldn't show you bought the items new.

I am checking with him to see if he has receipts for the components. I have done it before and said that the part was purchased as a gift. Depends on the manufacturer. Will this system play some of the newer titles on high to ultra settings?

Thanks for the response,

Tommy

This is a very powerful system $850. The main thing I would consider is that the motherboard (H67) does not allow for adjusting the cpu multiplier (overclocking) and the 2500k is a very overclockable cpu. You would need a p67 or z68 motherboard to overclock to 4+ ghz. You may ask for a lower price due to that limitation in the build.

Well. I got the system for $775.00. The system rocks and runs extremely cool. I have installed BF3 and it's flawless on Ultra settings. I purchased The Witcher 2, and it looks incredible as well!

I think I scored a good deal.
