What advantage has Asus maximum IV gene-z got compare to other Asus models?

Hmm,

WESTERNDIGITAL WD1002FAEX Caviar Black 1TB 64MB 7200rpm SATA 6.0Gb/s
vs.
SEAGATE ST2000DM001 Barracuda 2TB 64MB 7200rpm SATA 6.0Gb

Nearl same price. Is Western's performance significantly better?

Its not performance it's quality, warranty and performance. Yes the WD is more expensive and you get less but if its the only drive experience shows its a better choice. On the mobo side Asus seems to have been less reliable for the past 12+ months according to user comments. No reason to spend more than $150 for a z68 mobo and you can even do less.
