No the monitor is not worthy of protection :) So the Spike Cube says it is 600 joules? What does this mean, will it do for a 620W desktop or not? Is it enough protection...

and yes the power supply i just bought has protection built in but i wanted to know generally speaking should the spike cube be a good amount of protection for a 620W desktop or not, thanks. Because i had an older power supply that was 500w i think and it died when the power went out during a storm. i don't think the power supply had built in protection and i did not have a surge suppressor power bar either. So yes i did play it safe and get the following psu/surge suppressor. And that is fine, but i also bought a few of these little spike cubes that i want to know generally speaking if they should be able to protecta desktop computer of about 620W.

Tripp-Lite claims it's good for devices drawing up to 1800 Watts.

The Joules rating indicates how much energy the surge protector can theoretically absorb in a single event, without failure.
