Hey guys,

I just installed speedfan and was pretty surprised by the temperatures that it was recording for my Dell Studio 540...

CPU Temp (All 4 Cores): ~72C
GPU Temp: ~41C
HDD Temp: ~41C

I was wondering what were some easy ways to cool my computer without breaking the bank? I'm looking to spend sub-100 (preferably sub-50).

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply!

I didn't really post my build only because it's a stock Studio 540. I haven't really made any changes to it besides replacing a corrupted HD recently (just yesterday).

My CPU is: Intel Core(TM) 2 Quadcore Q8200 (Yorkfield)
My mobo: Dell Studio 540 0M017G (has it's own fan)
HD: WD Caviar Green 1TB SATA III
RAM: 4GB DDR2
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 3450 (has it's own fan)
PSU: 350W Dell Stock (obviously has it's own fan)
Case: Stock Studio 540 Case (not really sure where to find that kind of information)

If you guys need any clarifications or more information, please let me know!

TIA!

Awesome!

The dimensions of my case are 362mm (Height) x 170mm (Width) x 435mm (Depth) and my PSU is 350W. I want to make sure that you think the hyper 212 will work with my computer?

Thanks again :)

Most after market heat sinks are designed to fit almost any case. That one is supportive of the lga 775 chipset which is what your motherboard is. I do not see how it would be a problem as it won't be much larger then the heat sink that is in it now. And its not like your dell case is a slim line real thin model so i do not see how it would not fit.

Just got my Hyper212 plus and it won't fit into my Studio 540 Case. This post is just a warning for the rest who want to upgrade their heat sink.

On the plus side, I did manage to clean out my original sink and fan and my CPU temperature dropped by about ~30 degrees Celsius to a better ~40C
