Run i5 2500k or 17 3770k without GPU

So basically wondering if I should use the i5 2500k OC @ 4GHz or i7 3770k stock without a separate GPU.

Going to be running multiple java simulation programs and other basic (non graphically intensive) simulation programs.

Sure - as long as the motherboard supports it. Both CPU's have adequate (for your purposes) GPU's built into the chips.

Look for monitor connections on the back of the motherboard.
