Noob PSU Question, Will this Power Supply Suffice?

Hey I'm trying to upgrade my graphics card to the Radeon HD 6670 (rated at 400W - Future Shop) and so I'm going to have to upgrade my psu as well!

I figure since i'm already purchasing the card from futureship that i'll get the PSU there too. I'm looking at this 600W one here. (I'm not sure if i even need a 600 W? someone clarify?)

http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/corsair-corsair-600w-pc-power-supply-cmpsu-600cxv2-cmpsu-600cxv2/10190702.aspx?path=a7c8332c4facce9283c04cd1dd8d46bfen02

and am wondering if a) it will fit in my case, b) work, c) allow my graphics card and cpu to run perfectly??

My Desktop is:

I'm running an HP Pavilion (model p6302f) with Windows 7 Home Premium on a x64 bit system.

Monitor: HP 2009 Series Wide LCD Monitor

Graphics Card: ATI Radeon HD 4200

RAM: 6GB

Processor: AMD Athlon II X4 620 2.60GHz

is this a good choice?

More about noob question power supply suffice
  1. not the best psu but it will be able to power your computer fine. I dont know case dimensions but it should be fine
  2. That power supply should be fine. I question the wisdom of upgrading to a 6670 though. As long as you are upgrading, might as well do it right and get a good mid line card, like the 6850

    Yes, the exact same psu.

Yes, it'll easily run diablo 3 at that resolution with high settings.

You'll have to look for yourself to see where else it is available. Why, do you not have a credit card to buy it online?

As long as you case is a standard mid tower, it'll all fit.

I just checked. It is a standard mid tower. No problems fitting everything.

i'm ready alot of negative reviews on the Powecolor card, people saying the support is really difficult, do you think for an extra 20$ I should upgrade to a more well known brand like Sapphire? ( http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102908 ) Same card (I Think)
  13. http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1393381
$67 (Round to $70). Good PSU, 650 watts, modular, huge 12V Rail

Now we have about ~$130 for a GPU

    http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2060886&CatId=7387
7770 dual fan, slightly over budget

    http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2522509&CatId=3669
    560 SC, right on par

    http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1368436&CatId=7005
    Also on par

There you have it. Your getting a better PSU and a better GPU while remaining in your budget :)
  14. but will that PSu and Radeon HD 7770 fit in my pc? the Radeon HD 7770 says its PC 3.0 I think I only have 2.0..?
  15. and is the 7770 better than the 6850?
  16. and will my CPU (2.6Ghz) bottleneck the card and make me not see a difference?
  17. PCI E is backwards and forwards compatible, so yes it will work.

The 7770 is much better than the 6850 when OC'D. The dual fan model will allow for higher OCs while staying cool. The 7770 is also newer and uses less power.

The CPU is not the best, but should be fine.

It should fit in your case, when in doubt, measure! See how much room you have in your case, and see how large the GPU is.
