I am building a new system and want to make it Windows and Linux compatible. I need some advice on what modem to buy. keep in mind that I am a newbie to Linux so I would like the install to be rather simple. How is the USR 2977?

Any help would be appreciated.

Anything that's not a WinModem is compatible with Linux, just make sure it's a good company, so they'll have driver support. US Robotics should be ok.
I don't know anything about that specific modem, though.
