I may be stating something everyone already knows, but I just thought I'd share my results. I ran the "ranch - small" benchmark test in FarCry2 with the following settings:
Res.:1920x1200
AA: 4x
DirectX: v10
All other game settings maxed out.
For both OS's:
I used ATI Catalyst v9.5 (newest)
I had minimal background programs running (anitvirus shut off, etc.)
System specs:
Asus M4A78T-E mobo
AMD Phenom II x3 720 OC’d to 3.5GHz
(2) Sapphire 4870 (1GB) in crossfire OC’d to 815GHz core; 1020GHz mem
8GB DDR3 1333MHz (G.Skill)
WD Caviar Black 7200rpm 32MB cache 750GB
Hurricane force winds
The Results:
With Vista Max FPS: 92
Min FPS: 36
Average FPS: 56
With Windows 7 Max FPS: 101
Min FPS: 42
Average FPS: 64
The results are pretty much what you would expect .
7 doesnt have some of the system overheads vista does .Vista was always bloatware and if you dont know that its because you have never used earlier versions of windows
Also 7 handles RAM differently and makes better use of available memory
OP here...
Actually for control of testing, both OS installs were fresh with the exact same software installed and running in the background.
Whats your Cooler and Voltage on your 720?
Also, that's an actual impressive comparison. Regardless though, it seems as if Vista is lookin like a slideshow it appears so will 7. Shows there are real world improvements though.
What difference does Windows7 64Bit & 32Bit shows on FarCry2....?
I think ther won't be any difference, coz:
a) The game does'nt use more than 2GB memory
b) Game runs in 32bit system

hi friends...even am using windows 7...i also liked it a lot as you ppl do and the results are pretty good...
i played fallout3 and assassins creed...both are marvellous...the fps in fallout3 was 30fps earlier on windows64bit..
and now with windows7 64bit its around 40 solid....
and also i could see minor but very interesting details in the game..
does anyone feel the graphics better in windows7 here?
i can see all the textures very crisp and sharp now..i liked it a lot...
hey guys. i also had been using vista 64. clean install. nothing but GRID installed. it usually would slow down then speed up in large collisions. when i did a clean install of win7 rc 64, grid did not encounter these slow downs.

Call me crazy (maybe you too) but I could have sworn the even the splash screens for game looked better (sharper/more colorful?) for some reason.
Unfortunately though I didn't have 7 for long. I went to go restart and log on my Vista OS. Before it could it told be that it was checking E: (7 partition) with chkdsk and it found what seemed like a billion errors. I cancel, it does it again, I let it sit (forever) and when it finishes I finally log into Vista to find my entire E: inaccessible. Showed as 0MB and could not get any info from it. Luckily I had some backup software to at least restore the data but ended up formatting.
