Do i need to apply new thermal compound after i took off the cooler

HI guys. I want to know if i have to apply the thermal compound on the cpu cooler after i take it off since i'm replacing my motherboard i have to take it off so that i can remove the cpu from the socket. I have a coolermaster hyper TX3 and currently it has pre-applied thermal compound which it had when i bought it. So do i need to remove the thermal compound and apply new or will it work without reapplying?
