Forum Graphics & Displays : Graphics Cards Anyone help with gtx590 fps problem plz

Word :    Username :

well i just bought asus gtx 590 yesterday and it costed me problem already.

just in case these're my machine, please dont mind my ignorance i'm not a computer whiz

core i7 2600
windows 7 64bit ultimate dx11
asus gtx 590(which was gtx580 back then)
kingston ddr3 4mb*2
gigabyte p67a-ud3-3b(idk wth is this,it's a mainboard)
775w PSU

thing is my fps drops relatively much compare to last card which is gtx 580

first of all in BF3 i always play in ultra everything back when i was still using 580,it worked just fine, fps 40-60
then 590 replaced, fps just plummeted down to apx. 30-50

second game i tried Skyrim, fps which i was playing back then im not sure since i didnt measure it before but even with all those mods of mine it was still running smoothly without slight lagging or anything
now with gtx590 i got 40-50 fps and sequence lagging.

third SC2,well this game's not virtually lag but got some sluggish

this is crazy,i saw many guys(mostly in utube)got over 60 fps,some nearly reach 100 in BF3(same res),with similar rig

all game of mine was once set to maximum quality(i've only played 1 screen 1920*1080 btw) when i was using 580 but then 590's ruining most of the things

i guess i can say that gtx580 works much better than 590 for me...well that cant be true right? i saw their comparison chart!!
says 590's much better wth,how comes?

i also have done some research in similar cases though, some says it's the 1.5gb vram of 590,some says the PSU,some says hyperthreading, some says it's the driver.well i find them irrelevant also tried install various drivers

speaking of driver, i've noticed that latest patch(285.62) got no upgrade in %performance of gtx 590 at all, only 560&580 got 'em.maybe i can hope that they'll release driver that upgrade 590 performance?

any ideas would be appreciate :( :( :( :(

Because your 775w psu isn't enough.

Is SLi enabled in the Nvidia control panel?

If you are using the 590 you are using SLI.....it's two GPU's on a single card

First the system requirements

Thermal and Power Specs:
97 CMaximum GPU Temperature (in C)
365WMaximum Graphics Card Power (W)
700WMinimum System Power Requirement (W)
Two 8-pinSupplementary Power Connectors

So you meet the minumum PSU wattage .... do you have twi 8 pin PCI-E power cables plugged in ?

Power Consumption Results: The ASUS GeForce GTX 590 really isn't that much of a power hog as we saw our test system with that card installed pull 445W of power from the wall. Not bad for a complete system and well below the suggested 700W power supply suggestion from NVIDIA.

I hate to say this but the 590 was a poor decision. You had a card that delivered 616 fps in Guru3D's game test suite. You paid $750 to bring that up to 881 fps with the 590 ..... that's a 43% performance improvement for a 150% increase in price ($1250 total). Two 900Mhz 560 Ti's would get you 862 fps .... 98% of the 590's performance for 1/3 of that cost !

Grabbing a 2nd 580 would have brought you to 953 fps, well above what the 590 gives ya but would have required a new PSU......however a new PSU and a 2nd 580 is cheaper than a 590

Does SLi still need to be enabled with a dual GPU card? I'm assuming that it does as the drivers will still see it as just two GPU's albeit on a single card.

ur talking about the 'multi gpu mode' in 'nvidia ctrl pnl' i suppose? dont mind me i'm totally dumb in computer

well,i turn off the 'mode' cuz i got 'screen flickering' thing when that turned on but even when 'maximize 3d performance' the fps still pretty much the same as if they're limited to around 40

so 'no'

so u guys suggesting me to replace the PSU with 800w or something?

You need to have sli enabled! ;)

i managed to enable SLI
it made no difference at all,fps still around 40 never get higher and my screen kept flashing/flickering as well

i got an update
i tried the new beta driver 290.53,it improve Skyrim's fps to 55-60(SLI) should i expect more?;on the other hand,Crysis 2 from 30-40 fps droped to 20 sometime 15!
no difference on BF3 at all.

this is frustrating and hopeless maybe i should buy a new gtx580 and try selling 590?
