What power supply do you have?

You have a very good chance of it working.

Personally have a 5770(thats a 6770 as well since it was mostly a rebrand) with a 300 watt power supply :p, but the quality of the power supply plays a big role.

Most power supplies now days have the 6 pin connector(or more) already in them. That said, any XFX i have bought came with the power adapter anyway.

I would normally say so, but if you look at the specs on that unit.

12 volt rail 18 amps, that is only 216 watts of 12 volt power. This power supply is more like a 20 watt unit by quality standards.

With some luck, you will not have problems, but be warned, a 20 dollar power supply cuts many corners and focuses on the 5 and 3.3 volt rails. Those rails are not used that much these days.

Please note this 300 watt(linked below) power supply can deliver 288 watts(24 amps) on its 12 volt rails as opposed to the current 450 watt power supplies 216. This is just the difference in newer designs and quality.

Yeah, well its your money and your system, but I always try to convince customers to not use generic PSU's like these when much better quality ones are avail for minimum investment.

But sure go ahead, I have run these cards off of Dell PSU's that were only rated at 350.... just wanted to point out a great price on something that you could use...

I am the guy who runs a 5770 on a 300 watt(running at 70 watts in media center :) . I also picked my parts very carefully), but as you see not all 300 watts are created the same(12 volt rail power is the most important on a modern system). I mean that Seasonic 300 watt has more power then this 450(i would label it more of a 250 TBH).
The 6750 will not break 90 watts on its own(and it would be very hard for it to get there). But i do recommend keeping an eye if you try this. I never use a 20 dollar power supply.

There is not way to be sure, it could run just fine or it could literally blow up in your face taking out some of your hardware. It depends on how well the built in safeties work.

That said, If it ran, it would be fairly on the limit at full load(Not like all systems run full load all the time).

I am on the side of caution on this one.

the fact is that the psu is old and not good reliable psu and could easily take a dump on him. also buying a psu for the power consumption you need now is not necessarily a smart thing. what if he later on wants upgrade to a 6950 or something?

yet you linked a psu with a 3 egg review and 44 1 egg reviews
