Dual socket E5 2600 processor workstations

Hello,
I wonder if the Dell T5600 dual E5 2600 series processor workstation require that each socket use the same number of cores, or could one fill one socket with a 4-core and the other with a 6-core or 8-core.

TheCPUs need to match in all dual CPU rigs that I am aware of. Have you posted this question to Dell?

I have asked a young lady via Dell chat. She said that I will be able to use different core sizes in different sockets; however, I am suspicious that she might be incorrect.

That sounds like suspicious advice. I suspect you would have all sorts of timing issues and an unstable system as a result.
