New picture’s and Specs of AMD’s Upcoming Southern Island based Radeon HD7970 GPU have been exposed. The picture’s show the reference design along with the Liquid Cooling Chamber which will offer improved cooling performance over past Vapor Chambers.
A newly revealed specs slide also shows that the 28nm Tahiti XT GPU would feature 2048 ALU’s and a total transistor count of 4.31 Billion. GPU Core clock would be maintained at 925Mhz, We could see factory overclocked variants with 1000Mhz after the official launch.
Total Compute Performance is 3.79 TFlops against the 2.70 of HD6970, Texture Fillrate – 118.4GT/s, Pixel Fillrate – 29.6 Gigapixel/s. A 3GB GDDR5 Memory buffer would run across a 384-bit wide interface allowing for a total data rate of 5.5Gbps and 264GB/s Bandwidth. Maximum TDP is rated at 250W and power would be supplied through an 8 Pin + 6 Pin Connector. The Final MSRP is $549.
