Yes it is faster but you may be better served by a newer single card.

Crossfire for 5770 has improved quite a bit, and in general across the board for the HD series. Honestly, if you can get a pair for about 40 bucks less then what you'd pay for something like a 5870 or equivalent, I'd say go for it, but only if you have a good enough cpu to drive the two cards. I was lucky enough to get my pair shortly after launch for $225 or so, which at the time was way cheaper then normal retail. Shopping around sometimes you can find really good deals.
