I have not improved my desktop box in about 4-5 years and it's pretty badly out of date. I'm looking to upgrade to something contemporary that will last a few years. Having already received some feedback regarding which components I'm going to try to re-use for now (case, power supply, hard-drives, optical drive, OS), I did a little research and shopping. Not really interested in over-clocking, and I will use this machine for some home video editing and (strategy) gaming - though I primarily game on a PS3 these days. Any feedback and pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Processor - i5 2400 - $190
Memory - G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL8D-8GBXM $75
Mobo - ASUS P8Z68-V LE - motherboard - ATX - LGA1155 Socket - Z68 - $137
Video Card - Sapphire 100314-3L Radeon HD 6870 1 GB - $180
Total - $582

I guess it's no problem to mix and AMD-based GPU with an i5 processor/board?
