So I was cleaning out the dust out my tower took off my heatsink (slaps self) and can't get it back on. It doesn't have any screws plates in the back motherboard and only 4 screws on 4 sides around it. I have some pictures of the heatsink and motherboard. There isn't any threads in the motherboard for the screws to tighten, but when I took it out I had to unscrew all for to get it off.

Any help would be awesome. Sorry If posted in the wrong area.

As you can see, since there are springs on all screws, there is no way they were attached to motherboard without some kind of retention mechanism. Even if the holes on the motherboard are tight enough to be threaded with the screws, the springs would have pushed them out. The fact that you had to unscrew them in the beginning confirms that there were something below. If you can't find whatever they are, you have to find the retention bracket from other sources, like the Internet.

I would guess that the retaining nuts have fallen of the back of the motherboard when you unscrewed the cooler

I also thought that was the issue. I checked the back of the motherboard and there isn't any nuts there or in the case.

For the price, though, you may better off buying a new cooler.
