512mb vs 1gb memory on HD 5450. what is the difference

does a low end video card like this even take advantage of the extra memory?

PowerColor Go! Green AX5450 1GBK3-SH Radeon HD 5450 (Cedar) 1GB 64-bit DDR3

vs

PowerColor Go! Green AX5450 512MK3-SH Radeon HD 5450 (Cedar) 512MB 64-bit DDR3

if its just for watching movies or office applications will any difference be noticeable?

Yes, a low end card would take advantage of that memory.

The issue is it wouldn't have enough processing power to compute all that data if the program was fairly intensive.

Your second question; no it will not make a difference if you're just watching movies and running office applications. IMO if they're the same price go with the 1gig card.

None really. The HD 5450 is too slow to effectively use 1GB of RAM.

Even the much faster HD 5670 cannot effectively use 1GB of RAM. It might give 1 or 2 extra frames per second at best in games at high resolution (1920 x 1080) compared the the 512MB HD 5670, but the HD 5670 is not very good for high resolution if you are going to max out all the graphic settings in a game.

+1 for jagx
No there won't be, and it's a good HTPC card.
