Motherboard upgrade

Hello,
I'm upgrading my motherboard with an AMD Phenom 820 to a board with an Intel i7. I read that this should be a straight ahead swap as long as the HD controller is standard AHCI 1.0 or such. Mine says: "AMD AHCI Compatible RAID Controller"
Does that mean that I will have to instal the OS?

Motherboard drivers will be totally different, it won't run without a clean, fresh install of Windows...
