You know, the warez scene is pretty pitiful nowadays.
Back in the day, you didn't have all this fancy P2P stuff, binaries
through IRC, FTP, or even usenet. All you had was your modem and maybe a
BBS #. You had to ask for permission to get to the files area, and you
needed street cred to get "elite status". In fact, the word "leet" came
from some lamer wanna-be who thought all you had to do was to splatter
"I'm elite!" all over the boards in order to get access.
Yeah, getting warez back then required a certain degree of computer and
social know-how. Now a days, any yahoo with a broadband modem and a web
browser has access to gigabytes of information - and yet you STILL see
people coming onto this group asking us to hold their hand while they
commit crime.
No doubt piracy will always be around, regardless of what
anyone here (myself included) says or does. But it just irks me that
despite all the resources available through 5 seconds with a search
engine, people are *STILL* too lazy and/or stupid to take advanatage of
those. Instead, they just want us to hold their hand and spoonfeed them.
It's not like these questions haven't been asked before - in fact, despite
the overall anti-pirate attitude here, there's still plenty of useful
answers to these morons who seem to pop up about once a week. To the
pirate-supporters - don't you get tired of answering the same questions
over and over again? Don't you think these idiots could spend all of 2
minutes scanning recent posts to see if anyone asked a similar question?
IMHO, these lazy idiots bring any ribbing or verbal abuse upon
themselves. If all they get are a few rude responses, they should
consider themselves lucky, compared to what *could* happen if their ISP
or local police department found out what they were doing...
