Hp laptop screen problems

Hello, I have an HP Pavillion dv8000 laptop. The screen fades away and leaves multicoloured patterns but pressing the screen in the top left hand corner brings it back. It also works when the screen is fixed at one particular angle but the fades away again when it is moved. Any ideas what the fault might be?

Bad connection. Should be an easy fix even if you won't be able to take apart the case and reconnect the wires yourself. Any half-decent PC geek can do it for you
