Hey guys!
well along packing and moving to my new residence i have seemed to lost my DVI to VGA adapter that came with my
xfx radeon 5770 Graphics card.

i bought an adapter from someone off craigslist tried making it work, though it didn't work, then i stumbled across
another thread saying there are different kinds of DVI to VGA Adapters.

Do any of you guys know which one i need? apparently the guy i bought it from had a whole bag of adapters and will let me
choose the right one.

maybe pictures and/or links will be helpful!!

i am attempting to dual monitor. one DVI and the older monitor using the adapter. it worked before just need a different adapter.

Based off the Wiki you provided, i have the the DVI-D dual link and this doesn't seem to be detected when i attach the older monitor to the computer.
would i need to get the DVI-D single link?

based off this video at 1:44 to 1:46 the Adapter that came in the box looked like a DVI-D single link
does this really matter? or does it not?

and thank you for your reply!

A single link will work for you, dual link you want to use with a dual-link cable and a compatible monitor.
