Hey everyone here at toms hardware love the forum lots of great info. I am in the process of selecting parts for my very first computer build. I have selected quite a few parts my self but would like for you guys to look them over and let me know if I could go with something that's a better deal, would better suite my needs or maybe you suggest me looking at a different component / manufacturer for given reasons or features.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Approximate Purchase Date: 2 weeks from now or sooner

Budget Range: 8 - 900 after rebates

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, school work, web browsing, movies, listening to music, photoshop for school, some autocad programs, video editing in the future, rip/burn cd's and dvd's,

Parts Not Required: SSD, keyboard, mouse, monitor, Ive got 2 multi dvd/cd burners but there IDE going to use them for now unless I can get a good one that burns quality cd's as I'm a huge audiophile.

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg, tigerdirect, microcenter, any place really if its a better deal.

Country: USA

Parts Preferences: no preferences besides going with intels 2500k over the 960t as it seems it worth the extra money even though 960t can unlock to a 6 core and overclocks pretty well. the performance outweighs the budget processor in my opinion.

Overclocking: Yes

SLI or Crossfire: eventually when I have the money for a second card

Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080, 1920x1200(when i get a monitor that supports this)

Additional Comments:

Components for the build:

Cpu: Intel 2500k $179.99 @ microcenter
http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0354589
I'm set on this I want to have the cpu power to last me 5 years or untill I upgrade.

Mobo: Asrock z68 extreme4 gen 3 $134.99 @ microcenter
http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0373373
I get $50 off with the cpu combo normally $184

Picked this board because of the good reviews on the extreme3 I thought might as well get the extreme 4 since its around the same price with the combo. will take suggestions on similary priced boards from microcenter

Gpu: radeon hd6870
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...02-948^14-102-948-TS,14-150-521^14-150-521-TS

might wait for the 7850 7870 cards come out if its worth the extra cash. Don't want to spend more then $200 unless its a newer card runs cooler and has a better price to performance ratio. Not sure which to get the twin frozr seems to be the best in terms of cooling but not sure if its worth the extra money, would like to overclock the card aswell.

Ram: need a 2 x 4gb 1600 set limit $50
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...31-461^20-231-461-TS,20-233-144^20-233-144-TS

not sure which to choose might go with the lower voltage since I am overclocking but the first one has the most reviews and the best rating so might go with that.

SSD: ocz vertex 3 120gb $150 after rebate
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=91218&CatId=5300
Going to be a boot drive along with apps and games. Already purchased. I'm aware of the issues with this drive but I'll take my chances as this is one of the fastest for the money.

HDD: not sure but want a terabyte or more with the best price to performance ratio, might wait as I have a 200gb I can use for now and wait for prices to drop due to the flood.

PSU: Antec 750w
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371049

Need atleast 750w since I will eventually get a sound card and have 2 cards, 2 burners, along with overclocking. Efficeincy is nice but I dont pay the power bill yet but don't wont a cheap psu that will crap out.

Case: I'm pretty set on the lian li pc-k62 $75.64 shipped

I really like its simple desighn, black interior, and all the fans. Would like a mid tower with a side panel window, bottom mounted psu, lots of fans and good cable management along with easy access to the back of cpu for easy cooling upgrades. I'm a DIY'er so if it doesnt have a window and is cheaper to add it my self ill do that.
