Strange performence of new gtx 570

I just installed my new gtx 570, and much to my surprize when I loaded up Elder Scrolls Skyrim, the game set the graphics lower than my gtx 550 ti. I changed everything manually to ultra settings, and the game ran fine, but I'm totally baffled by this. Is something not set right on my card. Any feedback would br great. Thanks!

My score with i7-920@3.7GHz and single gigabyte GTX750oc was about 5500. the numbers may vary, my components are slightly overclocked.
