Hi
I'm using Windows 8 Pro 64bit with Media Center (v6.2 (Build 9200))

I have been trying to install some applications but i couldn't because it requires .Net Framework 3.5.
This is what i got:

I clicked on "Download and install this feature" but it gives me an error which looks something like this:

(My internet is connected and it's working fine)

Then i tried my luck using Windows Features

But unfortunately i got the same error as before..

Then i tried installing it from Windows DVD sources\sxs using Command Prompt (Admin).. But it got stuck at 65.8% and gave me an error

Finally i downloaded the offline setup from Microsoft which was around 231MB, It was funny though.. Because, when I clicked on the setup file, it says that i should install .Net Framework 3.5.

So, Help?

nop, i'm on 32 bits v 6.2 Build 9200. but a friend of mine has the 64 bits edition and he just did the same thing (copy the folder to the hdd) and worked just fine. One question, the disc you have, have both x86 and 64 bits edition? if it does it will happen the same as my friend. i was not able to install the framework from its disc, and asked for a friend how had a disk with the 64 bits edition only, repeated the process and was succesfull

-add the new feature .net framework 3.5 without checking the two sub features

the error code indicated that your download failed.

if you have a windows 8 disk: start a admin cmd.exe
and run
Dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFx3 /All /Source:D :\sources\sxs /LimitAccess

if where d is your dvd drive letter

@alaintroll: Yes it contains both x86 and x64

@johnbl: "The error code indicated that your download failed" .. Yes i can pretty much read that myself. And i suggest you read my post first, I already tried installing from Command Prompt (Admin).

well, as i told in my last post, a friend of mine installed the 64 bits edition from a disc containing both versions. when he tried to use the cmd to install the framework it did not work. he got a friend´s disc containing ONLY the 64 bits edition, repeated the process an VOILÁ!!! the problem seems to be that the sxs folder on the disc with both versions, does not have all the files necessaries to install the framework. in fact if you compare both folders ( in the 2 disc, which he did) you will see differences in the size, and names of the files. get a 64 bits disc, even borrowed and try it.

Have you run the .net cleanup tool?

It rips out everything, I'd go back in with 4.5 and do my best to not f with anything if that installs..
