While photographing my son's high school choral performance, my Canon
PowerShot G6's A/V door (also known as the terminal door) opened
unexpectedly through normal handling of the camera. In the darkened
environment of the auditorium, it was impossible to see this and a
subsequent movement of the camera's display panel caught and bent the
open terminal door. The display offers some resistance to movement, as
it should, and this masked the resistance provided by the interfering
terminal door.
Following the accident, the bent terminal door, even when closed,
interfered with the movement of the camera's display making full use of
the display impossible.
I have since had the camera repaired, but the problem of the display
interfering with the terminal door remains. To prevent this from
happening again, I have considered taping the terminal door closed, but
this "ugly" solution seems a shame for this high-end camera.
Question: Has anyone else experienced problems with the G6 display
interfering with the A/V door? If so, have you found a clean way to
prevent this from happening again?
