Which is better?

Hey guys, considering two used setups, for the same price, which is worth the $350?

BTW, I would immediately replace the video card in each...the i3 setup, the guy doesn't know what the motherboard is, I fantasize replacing the i3 with a 2500 i5 and over clocking it.


CPU: AMD Phenom II quad core 3.2Ghz
RAM: 4GB PC1600 (2x2) Coresair
HDD: 150GB WD Raptor
Power: 1000W Apevia
Mother Board: Gigabyte AM3+
Graphics: NVIDIA Geforce 8800GTS 512GB

VS

Intel-Core-i3-540 processor @3.07 per core with Intel hd graphics.
6gigs of memory,and a 500 gig hard drive.2 dvd/rw's
.And a AMD firestream 9170 workstation graphics card


What's your take? hop on the AMD setup and overclock the *** out of it? get the i3, replace the video card, wait 3 months and put a 2500 i5 and OC it?

After some benchmark searching, the i3 is a lot quicker.

BUT, I know the AMD can be overclocked heavily...

Intel-Core-i3-540's socket is 1156, i5-2500 uses a 1155 socket.
unfortunately, the i5-2500 is not compatible for boards with 1156 socket.

about the other question.
If that phenom you're referring to is Phenom II X4 955, the Phenom has better benchmark scores compared to the i3 based on this chart.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll hop on the AMD...The case and the PSU is a lot nicer, so I can upgrade MB and CPU later on.
