Approximate Purchase Date: This month, possibly next month.

Budget Range: $800-1000

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming (Rift, Heroes of Newerth, Skyrim), surfing the internet, watching movies

Parts Not Required: OS, keyboard, mouse, monitor, cdrom - Might use same case, HDD, and speakers but would like suggestions

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg.com, microcenter.com (live near a microcenter)

Country: USA

Parts Preferences: None - Im used to using certain brands but not limited by it - Intel (CPU), Western digital/Seagate (HDDs), Gskill (ram), EVGA (MB/GPU), Nvidia (GPU), LG (Monitor), Logitech (KB/Mouse/Cam), Creative Soundblaster (Speakers).

Overclocking: Maybe

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe - More then likely not

Monitor Resolution: Single Monitor/TV 1920x1080 or 1920x1200

Additional Comments:

I would like a computer that would run most upcomming games on moderatly high settings such as Diablo 3 and Planetside 2. Also would like the possibility to run 3D games/movies when I upgrade my monitor down the line.

My current Comp specs are as follows in case I can reuse anything:

Hardware:

Intel Core2 Duo CPU E6750 @ 2.66Ghz

NVidia Geforce 8800 GTX 768mb GPU

G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) with Heat Sink/Spreader (5-5-5-15)

Corsair HX 620W Modular Power Supply

EVGA NVidia nForce 680i SLI Motherboard

Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 500 GB 3 GB/s HDD

Random Good No Brand Case

Accessories:

Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard

Logitech MX1000 Laser Cordless Mouse with Base Charger

Logitech Webcam c120

Creative Labs Inspire 5.1 5100 Sound System

I was thinking the following for parts:

CPU: icore5 2500k with arctic silver 5 - hows the stock cooler will I need better?

GPU: maybe new radeon card thats comming out in march?

PSU: 80+ certified 650~800w or so - possibly modular

MoBo: z68 board (not sure which one)

RAM: 2x4gb gskill ddr3 1333 ripjaw or snipers

HDD: 1-2TB 5900 or 7200 rpm sata 6gbs

SSD: Possible upgrade down the line but not for now

Case: still looking

DVDRW: Using from previous build - sata dvdrw

Floppy drive: Might be my first build without one :/  ok so I'm old school

You have a good outline there. Make sure to pick z68 board from either gigabyte, asus or msi. I wouldn't recommend asrock since i've seen many users having issues and based on past experience, but it's still your choice.

The thermaltake frio is a good cooler if you're planning on overclocking to 4.5GHz and above. Samsung f3 1TB is a very fast hard drive and a bit cheaper than WD black.

650W to 800W is enough for that build and for 2 gpu(maybe a bit stress for 3 cards) and make sure to pick psu from either corsair, seasonic or antec.

If you're still looking for a case, I suggest you take a look at the bitfenix raider. It's quite a good case with very good features,

Your current PSU is enough, don't need to change it!!
