If by "work well" you mean function as intended, then yes. The parts are compatible, and there are no issues there, and the PSU is fully capable of powering all the parts.

If you can swing it the 6850 would be a better buy than the 6790, but the 6790 still often outperforms the 550 ti.
 

the msi mobo has a pcie 2.0 slot, so the 6790 should fit nicely. the psu is capable of handling the 6790 and othe cards (i am assuming that you're getting the cx 500 v2). the rest depends on the case - whether it can fit the 6790 or not. check the case dimensions and the gfx card dimensions.
