My power supply is a BFG Tech EX-1200, about 3 years old. It powers an Asus P6X58D Premium. A few days I noticed my system was not running (it runs 24 x7). When I powered it up the fans came on for about 2 seconds and the system shut down. After re-seating the cards and resetting the CMOS, same problem. I then removed the 8 pin 12 volt MB connector and connected the 4 pin 12 volt connector and it booted up. So far the system seems stable but being that I have a power hungry video card and processor this could change.
Is it safe to assume the 8 pin connector has failed?
Thanks, Jim
