my acer laptop says "windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the..." but i copied the disk and its still not working......now it says "info: the boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible..." whats the problem???

well... did you make any recent hardware changes? If so have you tried undoing those changes? This error can also show up when your HDD is about to fail (or has failed).

Have you tried booting from OS install DVD, either Vista or 7, you didn't specify. Once you boot from OS DVD you can repair the install. It tries to find which hard disk windows is on and make sure the boot loader is present and loading it. Can you press F8 just before windows is about to try and boot and select safe mode instead? In safe mode you could perform a system restore.
